Top story
FC Supra writes club history with playoff spot in debut season
Playing out of Stade Boréale in Laval, FC Supra du Québec achieved a milestone by booking a spot in the Canadian Premier League playoffs during their inaugural campaign—an unprecedented feat for an expansion franchise in the circuit.
The breakthrough came down to the final match of the regular schedule, a thrilling 4–3 victory over the Halifax Wanderers. Coupled with a Vancouver loss, the result lifted Laval into fourth place with an 11–12–5 record and 38 points.
The path to postseason soccer was far from smooth. Following a promising start, the squad tumbled down the standings into seventh place. Management made a mid-season change, parting ways with head coach Nick Razzaghi and handing the reins to Kyt Selaidopoulos. The shift paid immediate dividends: under Selaidopoulos, the team went on an undefeated run of four wins and one draw.
Striker Loïc Kwemi proved pivotal throughout the campaign, capturing the 2026 Golden Boot after netting 15 goals.
Heading into the postseason, FC Supra will clash with the league’s top-seeded team. The Laval side also made waves earlier this year in the Canadian Championship, reaching the semifinals before bowing out to eventual champion Forge FC.
In depth
Laval woman arrested in Ontario over suspected drone contraband drop at federal prison
Ontario Provincial Police arrested 27-year-old Sabrina Landry of Laval in the vicinity of Beaver Creek Institution in Gravenhurst. Officers discovered her inside an idling vehicle along with a drone and a quantity of methamphetamine.
The intervention took place shortly after 1:00 a.m. on October 18 during a targeted patrol by the emergency response team. Inside the car, investigators seized equipment deemed consistent with smuggling contraband goods into the correctional facility.
Landry is facing several charges, including possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possessing contraband items near a penitentiary visitor control point.
Fowler delivers 46-save shutout as Habs top Blues
The Montreal Canadiens earned a 2–0 road win against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night, anchored by a 46-save masterclass from goaltender Jacob Fowler.
Zachary Bolduc broke the ice in the middle frame with his fifth goal of the season, scoring against his former club. Rookie Florian Xhekaj followed up in the third period with his first career NHL goal, assisted by Mike Matheson, who wrapped up the evening with two helpers.
With a record of 7–3–2, Montreal now travels to Dallas for a Thursday matchup.
Coup de Coeur
The initiative run by L’Halloween accessible à tous ensures children with disabilities can take part in trick-or-treating without barriers. Simple orange window signs placed at participating front doors send a warm, unmistakable signal across local neighbourhoods: everyone is welcome here.
The last word
Here is to a productive Wednesday that moves with the energy of a stoppage-time winner. Laval continues to show its momentum on and off the field.
Until tomorrow. ☕
